The Bands

Mama Tumba

9:55am – 11:30am

PERFECT for breathing life into our 2018 AvoMargFest. For our first band of the day we introduce to you: Mama Tumba!!!

More about the band from their website:

Steeped in African and Latin based rhythms, they combine old world indigenous rhythms, songs, chants and dance with new world instrumentation and arrangements that stimulate the spontaneous movement of your body, soul and spirit. In other words they groove HARD and make you want to dance, shake, groove and move.

In other words these grooves make you want to dance, shake, groove and move. That is our goal and our mission, to create such deliciously groovy sounds that its not a choice but an imperative to get your groove on and enjoy yourself while listening.

The band is based in the San Luis Obispo area and is comprised of some of the most accomplished world beat players the Central Coast of CA has to offer.

Damon Castillo Band

12pm – 1:30pm

It’s 12 o’clock somewhere… and that location is the 2018 AvoMargFest!!! It’s time for ice-cold margaritas and soulful rock to get us to our happy place. For that, we’re going to need a healthy dose of the Damon Castillo Band!!!

More about the band from their website:

Damon lives in San Luis Obispo, a town on the central coast of California. Oprah and National Geographic said it was the happiest place in the country, so you know it’s true. He operates out of Laurel Lane, a studio he put together with his friends on the south side of town.

Damon just released his new album “Mess Of Me”. He wrote and produced it and had help with some mixes from nine-time Grammy Award-winner F. Reid Shippen. Aaron Sterling (John Mayer, Sara Bareilles, Gavin Degraw) played some drums on it, and longtime band mates, Larry Kim (sax) and Kristian Ducharme (keys) also contributed.

2pm – 3:30pm

The party absolutely MUST NOT STOP, and after a few hours of soulful rock, we’re kicking it up a notch for the dance crowd. Introducing The Jammies!!!

More about the band from their website:

Dave Robinson – Funky Bass man and Lead Vocals
Brian Freeman – Drummer of eclectic rhythms and Background Vocals
Mark  Schiesl – Sizzling  Guitarist and Background Vocals

David and Brian have been in several bands together for
13 years and are squeaky tight as our rhythm section.
Mark plays his sizzling guitar riffs over the top to create
a performance that will have the party on the dance floor-guaranteed!

The Jammies play a wide variety of styles including, Classic Rock, Funk, Reggae, & Blues, I like to say they play “EDGEY COVERS”!!

Samba Loca

Like the Pied Piper saving Ireland, Samba Loca drives away all the bad things in the world! They replace boredom & bad parties with love, dancing, incredible rhythm and the NEED to get our Party On!!! They are back people… follow them to the Party!!!

Lucky Devils Band

4pm – 5:30pm

For this year’s Featured Band to take the main stage… we dug deep and searched far-and-wide for something a little extra special. At 4pm when the party hits truly EPIC levels, we needed a band that could not just match our desire to party hard, but elevate it to the next level. Thankfully, we discovered the Lucky Devils Band!!!

Back Bay Betty

6pm – 7:15pm

Closing out AvoMargFest is no small feat. To put the finishing touches on this Summer’s biggest end-of-Summer party event, we’re keeping it local for that extra special beachy rock vibe. This year we are welcoming back Central Coast favorites – Back Bay Betty!

From their website: Back Bay Betty is a Los Osos, CA five-piece dance band known for creative original music and covers by classic and contemporary rock, blues, soul and jazz artists. Local favorite Linda Martin fronts the group from her keyboard with a bold, soulful voice. Accompanying Linda is singer-songwriter Ron Pagan on guitar, keys and vocals with Eric Stever on saxophone and vocals. Rounding out the rhythm section are Wil Anderson on bass guitar and Tanner Byrom on drums. Back Bay Betty performs at local music venues, county wide concert series, wineries, private parties and more and can tailor an evening to fit any audience.
